A Note About Importer Security Filing (ISF 10 + 2)

Effective January 26, 2009, U.S. Customs & Border Protection's (CBP) ISF Final Ruling requires Importers to report 10 data elements 24 hrs prior to containers being loaded on vessels destined to the United States. There will be a one year phase-in period, in which CBP expects importers to " make a good faith effort to comply with the rule to the extent of their current ability". CBP will monitor ISF filings and keep an "ISF Report Card" on all imports to monitor progress.
